Liner notes from the back sleeve:

Julian Laffranchi left his native Italy in 1959 to work in London hotels and
restaurants. He formed a friendship with England’s finest club pianist,
entertainer and accompanist Mike McKenzie who has played with such celebrities
as Ella Fitzgerald, Lisa Minelli, Charles Aznavour, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart,
Rod Steiger, Marianne Montgomery, Tony Martin, Rita Moreno, Matt Munro etc.
and he sang in the film ‘The STICK UP’ starring David Soul.

Mike recognised Julian’s ability at songwriting and they soon began writing
songs together. One day Julian drafted out in Italian a musical fairy tale for
children and he and Mike wrote the songs for it. Julian then contacted a
London publisher who suggested that a professional lyricist should be
engaged to write and English version and J. Alexander Ryan obliged. He is a well
known lyricist - librettist who has worked with Georgie Fame,Cleo Laine,Matt
Monro,Annie ross,Wilma Reading etc.

In 1979, with UNICEF’s Year of the Child, Julian decided to release the musical
as a record album. As proprietor of the successful ‘Ristorante Al Porto’ in Dover
Kent, Julian had extended his circle of artistic acquaintances and director Jane
Ridley invited some Dover children to sing the parts.

Meanwhile, some bandsmen at the Royal Marines School of Music in Deal had
formed a dance band Tangent which rapidly became known as the finest
quintet over a wide area. The band agreed to arrange the songs and overture
and also wrote the theme music using modern disco, bossanova and medium rock
rhythms. Tangent is led by Dave White (Drums; Allen Adshead (Keyboards);
Fred Wells (Electric Guitar); Neil Boxall (Electric Bass Guitar); Tony MArtin
(Percussion Effects). Tony (1977 Devon Entertainer of the Year) is Tangent’s
lead vocalist: he does not sing on this album but Tony + Tangent are planning
their own album in the near future.

Julian has written another musical for children called ‘The Little Cowboy’ which
will be released as an album if ‘Princess Snowdrop’ achieves the success it
deserves.
